US President angry about corona lockdown
March, 20th: When asked by a journalist what message he had for concerned US citizens in the face of the rising death toll, “I say you are a terrible reporter.”
March 21st: Trump praises a drug mix consisting of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azythromicin as a corona drug on Twitter: “Hydroxychloroquine and azythromicin together could be one of the most groundbreaking developments in medical history.” In April, the US authorities advised against the use of the drug cocktail because of health risks.
March 24th: Trump claims in a telephone interview with the news broadcaster “Fox News” that 30,000 or even 40,000 ventilators are not needed.
Literally, Trump says, “I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being given in some areas are just bigger than they will be. I don’t think you need 30,000 or 40,000 ventilators.” And further: “You know, sometimes when you go to big hospitals they will have two ventilators. And suddenly they ask, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?'” Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York City, had previously asked for 30,000 ventilators. The city has long been considered one of the corona hotspots in the USA.
March 22: Trump expresses anger on Twitter about the economic impact of the lockdown: “We cannot allow the cure to be worse than the problem itself.”
March 29th: In the rose garden of the White House: “Now there is talk of 2.2 million dead (…). If it is (ultimately) between 100,000 and 200,000, we have all done a very good job together.” The mark of 200,000 corona deaths in the USA will be exceeded on September 22.
Trump swears by the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine
17th April: “Free Minnesota!”, “Free Michigan!” “Free Virginia”: Trump calls on Twitter for protests against exit restrictions in some US states.

6th of August: In an interview with the online magazine “Axios”, Trump first said about the corona virus: “I think it is under control”. When asked about the fact that thousands of people die every day as a result of the coronavirus in the USA, the US President replies: “It is what it is.”

September 9th: Excerpts from a disclosure book by star journalist Bob Woodward show that Trump deliberately misled the public about the dangers of Corona. “I always wanted to downplay it. I still like to downplay it because I don’t want to panic,” Trump said in an interview in mid-March.
