Tottenham knockout standing! –

Largely dominated in the game by Leipzig, Tottenham, in front of their audience, lost their first knockout round of the Champions League (0-1), Wednesday evening.

José Mourinho welcomed this before the match: he has never lost a Champions League final in his career. His Tottenham team does not have much to do in this competition in view of their knockout round of Champions League first leg against RB Leipzig, lost logically enough on the side of London (0-1).

Certainly deprived of Harry Kane but also of Son Heung-Min now, the Spurs suffered for a large part of the match against the Roten Bullen led by Christopher Nkunku. Hugo Lloris saved his team from an attempt at close range from Angelino (1st), then a sharp from Timo Werner (36th).

But Julian Nagelsmann’s men ended up finding the fault at the hour, on the penalty spot, Konrad Laimer being mowed down by Ben Davies in the area, before Timo Werner executed the sentence (58th). In the process, Patrik Schick missed the opportunity to worsen the score by falling on a tall Hugo Lloris (62nd).

Tottenham failed to wrest equalization from its rare opportunities. A superb free kick from Giovani Lo Celso was deflected by Peter Gulacsi to his right post (73), while Lucas Moura did not adjust his header at the end of the game (89). With this level of play, the men of “Special One” have no chance in 3 weeks.
