Thanks to Pedro’s first Serie A goal, AS Roma won on Saturday on Udinese (0-1, Matchday 3). La Louve is temporarily back to 8th place.
A week after dropping two points on his home ground against a Juventus yet reduced to ten (2-2), AS Roma made up for it on Saturday with a narrow victory on Udinese’s lawn. The Giallorossi relied on the one and only goal of Pedro, the Spaniard’s very first since joining Serie A.
The debates were nevertheless balanced, and Udine has long hoped to be able to return. Unfortunately for the locals, Rome did not bow, thanks in part to a few decisive saves by Antonio Mirante. Up front, Edin Dzeko did not help as flamboyantly as he did against Juve. And so it was Pedro who offered the victory to his team, on a right-handed goal deflected from inside the opponent’s post into the back of the net.
In the Serie A standings, AS Roma are using their success to temporarily climb to 8th place. On October 18, Paulo Fonseca’s men will welcome the promoted, Benevento. Things get complicated for 19th Udinese, with a third loss in as many games since the start of the season. We will have to try to react to Parma.
