Liverpool still hold the shock

The incumbent champion is there this season, with a third victory in as many outings signed on Monday at the expense of Arsenal.

A week after taming the London Blues, Chelsea, on the same capital (0-2), the Reds of Liverpool have offered themselves other Londoners, those ofArsenal, for a third victory in a row in the league after the initial – and spectacular – success obtained against Leeds (4-3). This time it was the 3-1 mark that the reigning English champions made the difference. Not without having conceded the opener.

Despite a start to a one-way meeting for the residents of Anfield, the visitors indeed knew how to strike the first, thanks to an opportunist Lacazette, archi offside but put back in the saddle alone against Alisson by a clumsy Robertson (0 -1, 25e). Less than three minutes later, however, Mané emerged, also a fox from the surfaces after a shot from Salah rejected by Leno, to set the record straight (1-1, 28e).

See you Thursday

In the process, it was Robertson who, in order to make up for his blunder, closely deceived the porter of the Canonniers (2-1, 35e). Arsenal had just missed their chance. Twice Lacazette had the opportunity to equalize on the hour mark but the French striker’s counter was indeed stuck at three goals – the best start of a Gunner in the Premier League since Olivier Giroud in 2013. It was finally Jota, the latest arrival, who had the last word for the Reds, with a nice recovery placed (3-1, 88e). Arsenal will have a chance of revenge on Thursday against this same scarecrow, within the framework of the Cup.
