Announced for many weeks in the sights of Manchester United, Jadon Sancho finally remained at Borussia Dortmund. And for good reason, the Red Devils preferred to stop the maneuver, too risky in the long term.
Throughout the past few months, as Jadon Sancho impressed on the other side of the Rhine, all scorers pointed to a potential return of the England international to his home country, at Manchester United. The team led by Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer would take advantage of the 2020 transfer window to build a larger and more qualitative group in order to find the Champions League as quickly as possible.
A jackpot promised to Jadon Sancho’s agent
As such, the former winger of Manchester city was going to stand as a showcase for renewal. But in the end, the Briton stayed in Germany, and The Guardian thinks they know why. United would have tried to bring the jewel, on multiple occasions, forwarding several offers. But the Borussens remained inflexible, claiming no less than € 120 million. To this, it would have been necessary to add the salary claimed by Jadon Sancho, as well as the fees due to his representative, Emeka Obasi.
Two hopes for the England international
In total, the bill would have amounted to some 250 million euros for the residents of Old Trafford. After reflection, taking into account the health situation and its economic consequences, with in particular a projection of a return to full stadiums next March only, the Mancunian management preferred to be cautious. The Sancho trail was therefore abandoned, and since Ousmane Dembele refused to sign up, it was finally the Uruguayan and Ivorian nuggets, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Traoré, who signed.
